eBusiness

What is e-Business?

eBusiness is a very broad term that describes the use of automated information systems to improve the business process, more recently this tends to mean the use of web based technology.

A popular mis-conception of eBusiness is that this just means e-Commerce, i.e. selling products online.  eBusiness can include any interaction between an online system and the company business processes.

How can e-Business functionality help my company?

Reduce your costs – providing information that your customers want via your website, will save them contacting a member of your staff directly, or reduce the time required when they do contact you.  Reduce the time that your staff spend carrying out the same tasks for customers, by finding an efficient way to carry them out electronically.  Conducting business electronically can save in many areas such as printing, photocopying, faxing and postage costs.

Provide a better service – customers that are online are expecting more and more from the businesses they trade with.  If you can provide information online, you can effectively be available in some form 24/7.  If you restrict customers to accessing you during normal working hours and a competitor doesn’t, you will be at a distinct disadvantage.

Create additional revenue – selling online can make it possible to sell additional products, and to sell to markets that it may not be possible to reach offline.

Reach a wider audience – a website that is well optimised for search engines, and effective e-Marketing can help you reach a much bigger audience very cost effectively.
